Frequently Asked Questions

How much do your photography sessions cost?

The short answer: it depends on what kind of magic we’re creating together!
The longer answer is on my Investment page, where I’ve broken everything down so there are no surprises, just pretty pictures and happy people.

How many photos will we receive?

For mini sessions, there is a set number of images included (this will always be clearly listed in the specific mini session details or promotion). If you fall in love with more images (which happens a lot) you’ll also have the option to purchase additional photos when your gallery is delivered.

For full sessions, you receive the full gallery, which is typically a minimum of 30 images and can go up to around 60, depending on the session and what we create together.

Where are you located?

I am located in the Lacombe area of St. Albert. For landmark purposes only, I am walking distance from Bellerose High School. I will disclose my full address upon completion of booking.

Feel free to park in my driveway if the space is available. Come to the side door along my driveway.

Can I show up early or what if I'm running late?

Please plan to arrive right at your scheduled time. I may have another session scheduled immediately before or after yours. Additionally, please ensure you're dressed and ready for the shoot upon arrival, as getting ready at the photoshoot may reduce your session time. Unfortunately, I can't guarantee adjustments for earlier or later times.

What is the turnaround time before receiving our photos?

I aim to have your photos ready within 7-10 days at the most.

How do I receive my photos?

You’ll receive your photos in a private online gallery that I’ll email directly to you. It’s super easy to access and can be viewed right from your phone or computer.

For full sessions, everything in your gallery is ready to download right away — no waiting, no choosing, just all your images ready to go.

For mini sessions, you’ll usually see a few extra images (often around 10 more than what’s included in your package). You’ll get to tap the little heart icon on your favourites, and once you’ve made your selections, I’ll remove the watermark and make your chosen images fully downloadable.

Can you photoshop a photo? Ie. swap heads, create a smile, make thinner, etc.

I don't photoshop or alter bodies/faces. However, I can do light skin retouching for bruises, blemishes and scratches.

Do you supply the cake for cake smashes?

Due to dietary needs and allergies, I don't supply the cake for any cake smashes. You'll need to bring the cake with you on the day of the session.

When and how do I pay for my session?

For mini sessions full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your session time and date. Your slot won’t be held or guaranteed without payment. You can make a payment via e-transfer to chantallynnphotos@gmail.com. Once your payment is received, I’ll confirm your booking with you!

For full sessions a non refundable retainer of $100 is due at the time of booking and remaining balance is due before or on your session day (depending on the type of session you book — I’ll always outline this clearly when you book so there are no surprises).

What if I have a specific photoshoot idea in mind?

If you have a specific photoshoot idea in mind, I will do my best to accommodate and make your vision come to life. If a new backdrop or additional props are needed to fit your theme, please note that there may be additional charges. This would be considered a custom set, and I truly enjoy curating these unique setups to match your creative vision.

How big is your studio room? Do you just work out of your studio?

My studio room measures 16' by 10.5', providing just enough space to craft magical sets and comfortably accommodate a family. While it can be tight for larger family photos, I also offer outdoor photo sessions, other locations and even home visits to ensure everyone's preferences are catered to.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, you’re welcome to bring your dog! One of the perks of having a home studio is that it allows for pets. Just make sure your dog is well-mannered, house trained, and friendly. We want to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

What is a Mini session excactly?

A mini photography session typically last for 15 to 30 minutes (Session time will always be clearly listed in the specific mini session details or promotion), with a predetermined number of photos captured within that time frame. These sessions are designed for immediate family members or targeted star of the photoshoot campaign. Additional charges may apply for including other family members beyond the immediate family.

Do you pose us or is it candid?

Yes!! I’ll absolutely guide you with little poses and prompts, but I keep things very natural and movement-based. I always encourage things like walking together, cuddling, playing, laughing, and just interacting with each other.

I don’t expect kids (or adults!) to sit still and smile perfectly at the camera because honestly, that’s not real life. And real life is where the best photos happen anyway. Those in-between, candid moments are always the ones you end up loving the most.

What should we wear for our photo session? Do you help with outfit planning?

Yes!! I absolutely help with outfit planning. After booking with me, you’ll receive a confirmation email that includes all the important details for your session, including an Outfit Guide to help you feel confident and prepared.

I also have a blog post that goes a bit more in-depth on creating the perfect wardrobe if you want even more guidance and inspiration.

My favourite go-to (and honestly the easiest win) will always be neutral colours for your wardrobe. They keep everything timeless and natural, so nothing distracts from what really matters — your smiles, connection, and the story we’re capturing together.

What happens if the weather is bad? Do you reschedule outdoor sessions? What time of day is best for photos?

With the unpredictable weather we tend to get here in Alberta, I am totally open to rescheduling outdoor sessions, of course depending on my schedule. I will always do my best to accommodate and make sure we still get a beautiful session in the right conditions.

As for timing, the best time of day for outdoor photos will always be golden hour — that dreamy time right after sunrise or just before sunset when the light is soft, warm, and flattering. There’s also a short window after sunset called blue hour where some real magic can happen.

That being said, no matter the time of day, I always use simple lighting tricks and techniques to find the best possible light. We can truly make magic happen in almost any conditions.
